Therapy FAQS:
Are you currently accepting new therapy patients?
- Yes, I am currently accepting patients who are paying privately. I have a waitlist for clients who will be paying using insurance.
What is the cost of services if I don’t use insurance?
- A therapy session costs $225. This cost is determined by my training and experience in the field, and generally aligned with the market rate of services for LCSWs in New York.
That’s expensive! Do you offer sliding scale?
- Yes, I do! I understand that the cost of services can be prohibitive, and I want to work with you to make therapy as accessible as possible. During a consultation, we can discuss a variety of sliding scale options.
What state(s) are you licensed in?
- I am licensed to practice therapy in the state of New York. This means that you must be in the physical state of New York for me to meet with you.
Where is your office?
- My therapy office is currently 100% virtual! I use the HIPPA-compliant software Simple Practice for sessions.
What principles guide your practice?
- I am guided by principles including, but not limited to, beliefs in harm reduction, trauma-informed care, health at every size (HAES), and a commitment to class consciousness and anti-racism.
Mediation FAQS:
Are you currently accepting mediation clients?
- I currently have a waitlist for all mediation clients. Please contact me if you would like to be put on my waitlist.
What is the cost of a mediation consultation?
- The initial consultation is free. The initial consultation is 20 minutes; after that, you will receive intake paperwork.
What do mediation sessions cost?
- The costs of mediation depend on a couple of factors including, but not limited to, the specifics of your case, how many parties are involved (for non-divorce related mediation), how far along you are in the divorce process, and and travel. A charge a competitive rate for the New York area. The first step in this process is to contact me.
How do we get started?
- The first step of this process are intake phone calls. I will ask to speak with each of you separately. Please prepare to briefly provide an overview of any joint or personal assets, your finances, and childcare. It can help to have your last tax return, your budget and, if you have children, a school schedule in front of you.
Where is your mediation office?
- My mediation office is currently 100% virtual, however I travel to workplaces and family homes. I also rent office space when it is appropriate for the separating couple.
I want a mediation, but the other party does not agree to this. Can we still work with you?
- Mediation is only appropriate when all parties agree that this is the best option.
My separating partner and I both want a mediated divorce, but we start to argue when we discuss our relationship. Is mediation appropriate?
- Yes, it is. Divorce can be a highly emotional and vulnerable life event. As a mediator, I am trained in re-directing tense conversations. Clients hire a mediator to help this process be as civil as possible.
How many sessions will mediation take?
- It depends on your case! Sometimes, we meet once. Other times, mediation may take a couple of months. On average, the divorce mediation process when a divorce has not been finalized is 4-6 two-hour long sessions. During these sessions, we work together to craft a Memorandum of Understanding which memorializes the full agreement.
